HTC One M8 now available in Amber Gold

The HTC One M8 can now be bought in its Amber Gold colour here in the UK.

Those enamoured by the recent(ish) trend for golden smartphones may be interested to hear that the latest example is here. The HTC One M8 in Amber Gold is now available from Carphone Warehouse.

It was available to purchase online and over the phone yesterday (April 1), and is hitting stores today (April 2).

“HTC’s Amber Gold is a very tasteful colour option and fits the premium feel and unique metal design of the HTC One (M8) perfectly,” said a Carphone Warehouse spokesperson.

They kind of have a point. Whereas gold doesn’t suit many phones due to their predominantly plastic construction, the HTC One M8’s chic all-metal unibody design wears the light gold colour very nicely. If you like that sort of thing.

The HTC One M8 itself, of course, is well beyond matters of taste. It’s one of the strongest phones on the market.

It comes with a beautiful 5-inch 1080p display, a powerful Snapdragon 801 CPU, and an improved (though admittedly far from perfect) 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera.

What makes the latter component interesting is its second lens, which can be used to adjust the focus after shooting or, more practically, to boost that professional-looking depth of field effect we all love.

Android 4.4 KitKat comes as standard, as does HTC’s brand new Sense 6 UI, which is another step forward for HTC’s software department.

All that, and you can now have it wrapped in an Amber Gold aluminium shell. Classy.
