Halo franchise sales hit 65 million units

Halo franchise sales has hit the huge milestone of 65 million units ahead of the launch of Halo 5: Guardians.
It looks like the Xbox exclusive juggernaut continues to be a huge hit with gamers.
Microsoft’s Halo series, one of the company’s biggest and most prestigious properties has hit a monumental sales milestone. As of July 2015, the franchise has sold a total of 65 million units.
This is up from 60 million units sold worldwide in October 2014, hinting towards the sales performance of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which launched in November of last year.
Microsoft is yet to announce the official sales figures for the compilation title, but it’s no surprise that it performed well. The Master Chief Collection is also bundled in with Xbox One systems in certain territories.

The Halo series has consistently been a critical and commercial success for Microsoft, resulting in the release of novels, action figures and even a live action television series.
This success is set to continue with the release of Halo 5: Guardians this October, which continues to story of Master Chief after the events of Halo 4.
Developed by 343 Industries, Halo 5 is set to place a new focus on four player cooperative gameplay whilst simultaneously staying true to formula we know and love. Halo 5 will also run at 60 frames per second with a 1080p resolution.
At E3 this year Microsoft showcased Halo 5’s single player as well as a brand new multiplayer mode called Warzone. A game mode that pushes co-operative play and multi-phased objectives against AI controlled opponents.
It will be the first game in the series to not feature split-screen cooperative play, an unfortunate departure for a franchise that always embraced the idea of local multiplayer.
Halo 5 is set to launch on October 27 exclusively for the Xbox One.
