Football Manager 2018 is first game to feature players coming out as gay

Football Manager 2018 is tackling homophobia in the beautiful game with a new feature that allows virtual players to come out as gay.

The welcome addition comes into play in the form of a news announcement landing in your email inbox within FM 2018.

After being spotted by an eager terrace tactician in the beta version, the game’s director tweeted to confirm its existence.

If a player on your team comes out in the game, you also get a financial boost due to increased support coming from the LGBT community.

Real players won’t have the feature applied to them, nor will it occur for players based in countries where being gay is illegal.

Last year’s instalment of the sofa smart-arses’ favourite footy sim had a built-in Brexit simulator to better reflect the political climate outside of the game.

Football Manager 2018 is out on November 10, so stay tuned for our full review.
