Apple AirPods could go on sale as soon as next week – report

Apple delayed the launch of its upcoming AirPods last month, telling TechCrunch it needed “a little more time” to get the wireless earbuds ready for release.

Originally slated for a late-October release, the AirPods have been listed as ‘currently unavailable’ on the Apple site since the firm announced the delay.

But it seems there could be some developments in the AirPod department, with a new report claiming the earbuds will be available by mid-November.

Specifically, German blog quotes an employee at Apple reseller Conrad as saying AirPod stock will arrive on November 17, and will go on sale on November 18-19.

Here’s Google Translate’s attempt to make sense of the specific passage: “Hello, I have just talked with an employee of the Conrad Online Store, since I am there on 14.10 the AirPods ordered and I wanted to cancel today.

“According to information from the employee, they have stockpiles from 17.11, I will then have them between 18-19. November.”

As MacRumours points out, Conrad’s site actually says the AirPods will be available for delivery in eight weeks, so the information doesn’t seem to be backed up by the website. Still, we’re hoping to see the earbuds arrive soon – at least in time for Christmas.

That said, a report citing supply chain sources has previously suggested the product won’t be released until January 2017, so at this point, it’s still very much unclear just when the AirPods will debut.

Apple’s latest innovation allows users to connect to the headphone jack-less iPhone 7 wirelessly, and the pods themselves come with an ultra-low-power W1 chip inside, allowing them to detect when they’re in your ears and automatically play and pause.

Double-tapping the AirPods enables you to access Siri, and the beam-forming microphones focus on your voice while filtering out other noise.
