Amazon Kindle Fire HD 2013 pictures leak, reveal complete redesign

Pictures of the second-generation Amazon Kindle Fire HD have leaked online, showcasing a completely redesigned tablet.

Expected to launch within the month, the Kindle Fire HD 2013 will have a completely redesigned exterior, although the rear of the device has been covered to hide “identifiable marks”.

BGR managed to obtain the pictures of the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD only, but apparently the updated Kindle Fire 8.9 slate features the same design.

Amazon has done away with the rounded-edge design of the current Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet in favour of one more angular and harsh.

The buttons have been redesigned and relocated to either side of the device’s rear, in easy reach of your trigger fingers when holding the Kindle Fire HD in landscape mode. This may come as a relief, as many users found the current layout awkward.

On the Kindle Fire HD 2013, the speakers have moved from the back to the top of the tablet, while the rear of the slate no longer bears the distinctive glossy plastic strip.

According to BGR’s source, both the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD 2013 and updated Kindle Fire HD 8.9 are lighter and more ergonomic than their predecessors.

Kindle Fire HD 2013 Specs
The Kindle Fire HD 2013 will supposedly pack a 7-inch Full 1,920 x 1,200p HD display, boosting the current 1,280 x 800p resolution.

Under the hood, there should be a 2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM.

Running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Amazon’s custom Kindle UI, the updated Fire HD will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB model. All models will come with Wi-Fi connectivity, but there should be 3G cellular data options available as well.

Amazon’s updated Kindle Fire HD 2013 will complement the recently updated Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2013, which is available on October 9.
