Activision Blizzard’s first ever TV show is set to premiere on Netflix in autumn this year.
The video game giant has confirmed that Skylanders Academy will air exclusively on Netflix in 2016, bringing the $3 billion franchise to life on TV for the first time. The series will follow the heroic adventures of the Skylanders team, heroes with unique elemntal skills who protect the Skylands universe from baddies.
Bobby Kotick, CEO at Activision Blizzard – the firm behind World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Overwatch – said:
“Over the last five years, millions of families around the world have welcomed Skylanders characters into their homes. Now, they’ll be able to watch their favourite characters come to life on Netflix. We couldn’t have found a better home for ‘Skylanders Academy’ and look forward to sharing our extraordinary characters with Netflix audiences around the world.”

Skylanders Academy is being produced by Activision Blizzard Studios, Blizzard’s new film production subsidiary that was only announced in November last year. It’s helmed by Nick van Dyk, a former Disney executive, and counts Skylanders Academy as its first major project.

Skylanders Academy’s showrunner is Eric Rogers (Futuruma), and will feature the voices of Justin Long (Alvin and the Chipmunks), Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical), and Jonathan Banks – that’s Mike from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
