Once again the industry's latest collection of flagship parts are rolled up into a case labelled 'XPS'...

To be precise the rather more verbose 'XPS 720 H2C Edition' is scribbled on Dell's newest gaming rottweiler and here's the dealio: a Intel Core 2 Extreme quad core QX6700 processor overclocked from its default 2.66GHz to 3.46GHz thanks to a liquid cooling system. An nVidia nForce 680i SLI MCP mobo with dual 768MB GeForce 8800 GTX graphics cards and 2GB of 800MHz Corsair Dominator DDR RAM overclocked to 1066MHz.

Dual 160GB SATA 3Gbps 10,000RPM hard drives with support for RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and 5, a 2x Blu-ray drive, SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card, a 1KW PSU, choice of Vista Home Premium or XP Media Center and a 24in Dell UltraSharp 2407FPW widescreen monitor with flat panel speakers.

Incredibly there are optional upgrades available including a QX6800 2.93GHz CPU overclocked to 3.73GHz, dual GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards, an AGEIA PhysX processor, 27in UltraSharp monitor and Dell's WL6000 5.8GHz wireless 5.1 speaker system.

Quite frankly, I don't even know where to start looking at that list of components. Dell does though: $5,999 and upwards. Nuff said.
