YouView has announced an update for its on demand TV service, offering up a fresh round of BBC goodies.
The set top box streamer now has access to BBC’s Connected Red Button feature.
This means viewers can enjoy bonus content during live sports fixtures, catch-up functionality for BBC News and BBC Sport, and postcode-tailored BBC weather forecasts.
The new update also brings with it a revamped BBC iPlayer.
Users will now find it easier to hunt down content from the last 30 days, watch exclusive iPlayer programming, browse new categories, and view programme groupings by series, season, event, or theme.
Richard Halton, YouView’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to give YouView customers the best in free-to-air functionality.”
“New BBC iPlayer and BBC Connected Red Button are just two of the many ways we’re evolving and improving the YouView on demand TV service ensuring seamless and easy access to great TV for everyone.”
YouView launched back in 2012 with the now-departed Lord Alan Sugar at the helm. The Apprentice don hoped the service would replace Freeview.
The tele-beaming box is now in upwards of 1 million UK homes, with the latest BBC-filled update set to rollout across the nation today.
