Samsung set to unveil beastly 7-inch Galaxy J Max phablet

Galaxy J Max

According to reliable mobile tipster Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, Samsung is ready to unveil the thirteenth member of its Galaxy J line in the form of the 7-inch Galaxy J Max.

In 2016, we'll have to give the Galaxy J Max the benefit of the doubt and call it a phablet, but there was a time when a 7-inch device was called a mini-tablet, – remember the Nexus 7?

Blass didn't reveal much in his tweet, simply saying that the Max was "self-explanatory", but given the current make-up of the ever expanding Galaxy J family, we'd place small stake on it measuring 7-inches.

So what do we have to look forward to? According to reports, the Galaxy J Max will also feature dual-SIM capabilities and support a range of international bands including GSM, HSDPA and LTE, meaning we might actually see it in the UK.

Based on our time with the Galaxy J3, though, you shouldn't be expecting much more, other than an affordable price tag and maybe a halfway decent screen.

Release details have yet to be confirmed, but we might see it catwalked later this year as a budget counterpart to the more premium Galaxy Note 7.
