PS Vita Ice Silver version launched

Sony has announced an Ice Silver Sony PlayStation Vita edition will be hitting Asian shores from the end of this month.

The new Ice Silver edition will be available on Wi-Fi Sony PlayStation Vita consoles and is the fourth special colour hue released by Sony for the Sony PlayStation Vita since its launch last year.

Hong Kong residents will receive the Ice Silver Sony PlayStation Vita on February 28, costing HK$2,280 (£187). Sony Computer Entertainment Asia has also confirmed launches for the silver console in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan for early next month.

As of yet there has been no mention of a European release date for the Ice Silver Sony PlayStation Vita, but with the cryptic PlayStation event on February 20 just around the corner, it seems unlikely that Sony will not bring the new console colourscheme to western markets.

PlayStation Vita Features
Launched back in February 2012 in 3G and Wi-Fi editions, the Sony PlayStation Vita has suffered from low sales due to smart device competition such as the Apple iPad Mini and Samsung Galaxy S3. Technically impressive, the Sony PS Vita boasts graphics that nearly rival the Sony PlayStation 3 on its stunning 5-inch OLED screen.

Offering a very responsive front touch-screen with multi-touch capabilities, the PlayStation Vita also provides a rear touch panel that is well utilised in several PS Vita games such as Little Deviants.

The layout is hugely similar to the Sony PlayStation 3 shock controller with dual analogue sticks, D pad and face buttons, and not four, but two shoulders buttons adorning its light-weight body, but with augmented reality functions, front and rear-facing cameras, tilt controls, a wealth of built-in apps and a strong games line-up to boot, the Sony PlayStation Vita is a strong portable console.
