Despite OnePlus’ best efforts to keep a lid on its next smartphone, details about the OnePlus 3 are flooding out onto the web.
Today, new images of what is said to be the OnePlus 3 have been posted to China-based social media site Weibo. Five images were uploaded, depicting the handset from both the front and back.
What’s most notable about the leaked device is that it looks very much like a HTC smartphone, from the rear anyway. The antenna bands form a T-shape, just like the HTC One M9. The camera shape and position are also identical to HTC’s flagship.
The phone pictured also features a fingerprint scanner that looks very similar to the one we saw on the OnePlus 2. Rather than being a pressable button, it’s an indented, shiny surface with a biometric sensor underneath it. There’s also a single speaker on the top part of the bezel, just like the OnePlus 2. As such, this new phone looks very similar to its predecessor.
But as with all leaks, we can’t verify the legitimacy of these shady snaps. Until OnePlus actually announces the phone, we’ll have to take any such leaks with due caution. However, it’s worth noting that the design of this phone – particularly from the front – looks fairly convincing.
OnePlus is expected to launch the OnePlus 3 in June, although it’s not clear whether the company will actually meet this deadline. The handset is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 16-megapixel camera. It’s also likely to run on Google’s Android 6.0.1 OS, with its own OxygenOS software overlaid.
