The latest Nokia Lumia 1020 ad mocks the camera capabilities of rival products from Apple and Samsung.

Playing on the rivalry between iOS and Android, Nokia is attempting to make its new Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone stand out from the competition.

The new Nokia Lumia 1020 shows off the camera quality of the latest Nokia flagship, mocking the offerings from Apple and Samsung directly.

People in the video are clearly holding Apple iPad 4 units, the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones, with Nokia making specific references to key photography features of the competitor’s products.

At one point there is reference to Apple’s panorama mode, with another reference made later on to the Drama Shot feature introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S4.

“2007 called and it wants its camera phone back,” states one character holding an S4 to a lady clearly holding a white iPhone 5.

As all the other smartphone users clamber around in great disarray to get the best shot of the children on stage, the couple with the Nokia Lumia 1020 is sitting smugly at the back of room.

“With the Nokia 1020, we’ve got the best seats in the house.”

Nice one Nokia.

Nokia Lumia 1020 Features
The Nokia Lumia 1020 was unveiled on July 11 at a dedicated “41 million reasons” event in New York, with the Finnish company claiming they had reinvented zoom with its new camera-centric smartphone.

Packing a 41-megapixel sensor camera with Carl Zeiss lens technology, the Nokia Lumia 1020 uses oversampling technology to allow users to zoom into details on the images they’ve taken, without impairing the quality of the picture.

Running Windows Phone 8 on a 4.5-inch 1280 x 768p resolution AMOLED screen, the smartphone has a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Unfortunately the Nokia Lumia 1020 only has a 2000mAh battery, but users can purchase the Nokia Camera Grip accessory that snaps onto the phone and offers easy access to camera features, adds a tripod screw mount and an additional 1,200mAh battery.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 should touch down in the UK on September 5 for £599.99 SIM-free.
