Microsoft has opened up the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 pre-order page for the UK, revealing how much you’ll need to pay for the new 12-inch tablet.

The Surface Pro 3 was announced on May 20 at a special event, with the aim the 12-inch size can fill the gap between laptop and tablet.

You can now pre-order the latest Surface Pro via the Microsoft Store, with UK pricing starting at £639.00 for the 64GB Intel i3 model.

Jumping up to the 128GB Intel i5 option, you’ll need to pay £849 and for the i5 Core 256GB model is £1,109.

Of course, if you want the most powerful Intel i7 models, the 256GB option is £1,339 and the 512GB model is a whopping £1,649.

The new Surface Pen for the Pro 3 is £44.99 in the UK, but you do get one in the box with the Surface Pro 3.  If you want that new Surface Pro Type Cover, it costs £109.99 and comes in five colours – red, blue, purple, black and cyan.

The Surface Pro 3 comes with a 2160 x 1440p 12-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and has been made considerably thinner and lighter than the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. The latest model is just 9.1mm thick and weighs 800g.

It packs speakers 40 per cent louder than the previous iteration too, and comes with a redesigned full-friction kickstand and USB 3.0 port for high-speed transfers.

As for battery life, the tablet is said to offer a 15 – 20 per cent improvement on the Surface Pro 2, offering around 9 hours on one charge.

Coming pre-installed with Windows 8.1 Pro, the Surface Pro 3 also comes with microSD card support and offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity.
