Lenovo S90 Sisley blatantly 'inspired' by iPhone 6

Lenovo has just launched a new smartphone that stretches the limits of decency in its similarity to the iPhone 6 design.

The Lenovo S90 Sisley has officially launched in China, and the inspiration for its design is just about as blatant as they come.

The Lenovo S90 bears a strong resemblance to Apple's iPhone 6, with a familiar metal-effect (it's actually plastic here) rear and sides, and with familiar rounded edges. It's also the same thickness and weight as the iPhone 6 at 6.9mm and 129g.

Meanwhile, it has the same speaker grille pattern on the bottom of the phone.

It's not just the look of the Lenovo S90 that apes the iPhone 6, though. Even Lenovo's marketing material appears strikingly, almost unbelievably familiar. The similarity in the fonts, background, and even choice of images used is staggering.

Check out the following shot, which was pointed out by Gizmobic and handily stacked side by side with the original by Android Authority.

Blatant, eh? The marketing swipe continues with the same camera lens and image sensor break-down effect - though Lenovo has at least had the decency to focus on the front camera rather than the back.

On the spec front, the Lenovo S90 Sisley is no great shakes, with a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera. A true Android mid-ranger if ever there was one.

But it's that shameless design that really makes a statement here. We've seen plenty of iPhone clones coming from China in the past, of course, but let's not forget that Lenovo is a respected global player. It's the biggest computer manufacturer in the world and the joint fourth biggest smartphone maker in the world, according to some recent metrics.
