Smartphones may have been huge for a decade, but 2016 will go down as the year they really exploded.
After Samsung’s fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 found itself on more ‘No Flight’ lists than ISIS, it appears Apple wants to get in on the act too.
One new iPhone 7 Plus buyer (via Reddit) has claimed their handset arrived from Apple looking like it had been delivered via the Earth’s core.
A phone that comes exploded right out of the box? Beat that Samsung! You don’t even have to risk setting fire to your car or anything.

In all seriousness, we don’t expect this to result in another serious issue.
It’s highly likely to be a freak occurrence with damage to the Lithium-ion battery caused somewhere between the factory and delivery to the user.
Apple has not commented, neither has UPS which handled the last leg of delivery. Apple is working with US network AT&T to arrange a replacement device.
Samsung is still attempting to get through to nearly half of Galaxy Note 7 buyers in Europe who, for some reason, have not called in their replacement device yet.
