The iPhone 6 will reportedly enter mass production next week ahead of an official release this September.

Although reports from Chinese news outlets have suggested the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will start being pieced together in the coming days, it has been suggested that the heavily rumoured, 5.5-inch Apple phablet has been pushed back to a later date.

Citing unnamed sources within Apple’s production line, the Economic Daily News has claimed that the 5.5-inch iPhone – tipped to known as the iPhone Air – will enter production during the second week of August.

Despite production being on the verge of kicking off, recent reports have suggested that component suppliers are struggling to produce iPhone 6 parts in sufficient quantities.

It has been suggested that a move to a considerably slimmer form factor has caused  number of manufacturing issues on everything from screens and batteries to the new, rounded chassis.

Although Apple has yet to officially acknowledge the existence of such a device, it is widely believed that the iPhone 6 will be announced this September running iOS 8.

As well as making the move to a new, larger, 4.7-inch form factor, the iPhone 6 is expected to add a new A8 processor, potentially a 13-megapixel camera and a new Quantum Dot display.
