Huawei has confirmed to TrustedReviews that the Huawei P9 smartphone exists, and is set to arrive in 2016.
We questioned Huawei’s Clement Wong, VP of Global Product Marketing, about the existence of the device, and its absence at the MWC tradeshow.
“Stay tuned, but one thing I can guarantee is it’s very amazing,” said Wong. “You’ll be wowed. That’s one thing, so stay tuned.”
“We have many products coming out later,” Wong continued. “Maybe what you mentioned, the [P9] coming out. We have a very strong portfolio.”

“It’s quite a rich portfolio for this year, so it’s really exciting,” he added.
Despite not being officially confirmed until now, the Huawei P9 was heavily rumoured to arrive at this week’s MWC tradeshow in Barcelona.
However, Huawei’s main announcement at the show turned out to be the new Huawei Matebook 2-in-1 hybrid instead.
The Huawei P9 is rumoured to feature a dual-lens camera, a premium metallic design, a 5.2-inch Full HD display, and an octa-core Kirin 950 processor. There’s also speculation that the device could ship with a massive 6GB of RAM.

It’s also very likely to ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board, albeit skinned with Huawei’s EMUI software.
Last year’s Huawei P8 was a critical success; we scored the device 8/10, praising its creative camera features, high-end design, and budget-friendly price.
