We already knew HTC’s ailing mobile business was working on a ‘hero’ smartphone, but what does it actually look like?
A newly leaked image claims to show off the mystery handset ahead of the official launch.
The picture, posted to Chinese social media site Weibo, appears the show the upcoming device next to an iPhone 6, for comparison.
That’s probably because the two handsets look extremely similar from the rear.
The most obvious difference between the devices is the position of the camera – it’s more centered on the claimed HTC.
We should note that we can’t verify this newly leaked image, so it could just be an impressive faux handset. Have your pinch of salt at the ready, folks.
This latest leak comes just a day after a separate report seemingly revealed new details about the device.
Apparently, the HTC Aero will actually launch as the HTC A9, and will ship with MediaTek’s new top-end Helio X20 chipset.
For the unaware, that’s the chip that has a ludicrous ten processor cores in tow.
The report also suggested the HTC A9 would feature 2.5D curved glass, a full-metal chassis, and two colour options – Tyrant Gold and Dark Grey.

We’ve known that the HTC Aero/A9 has been coming for a little while.
That’s because back in June, HTC CEO Cher Wang revealed the company was preparing a “hero” smartphone to follow on from the HTC One M9 this year – but it won’t be part of the One M-series.
It's expected to land at some point before the end of 2016, so stay tuned.
