How to download the Battlefield Hardline multiplayer beta

Get involved with Battlefield Hardline multiplayer in the open beta from February 3

The Battlefield Hardline open beta goes live tomorrow, February 3, giving you another early look at the multiplayer portion of Visceral Games’ first Battlefield title.

Ahead of its release on March 20, EA Games and developer Visceral are letting you get some preview access to some of the multiplayer maps and modes coming with Battlefield Hardline.

Unlike the recent Evolve open beta, EA Games is opening up this Hardline open beta to all platforms, giving gamers on the PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3 all an equal opportunity.

Of course, if you want to jump in on the open beta action coming February 3, you’ll need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership before you can start playing.

Battlefield Hardline multiplayer beta – Starts February 3

The Battlefield Hardline multiplayer beta goes live on February 3, although the exact timings as to when the beta will land will vary by platform and region.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more details on the exact arrival times for the download.

The open beta will close six days later on February 8, but again the exact timings for the final hours will vary by platform and region.

What’s great is that you’ll have access to the full progressions system during the six days the beta is live.

Sadly though, regardless of the number of hours you plough into the multiplayer beta, none of the progression or stats you accrue will carry over to the full game.

Although that might put you off a little bit, you do get an exclusive Battlefield Hardline dog tag for playing the beta if you’re a Battlefield 4 account holder. That will arrive in the next patch for Battlefield 4 for you to wear in-game.

Battlefield Hardline multiplayer open beta - Modes and Maps

The open beta features three different maps and two different modes, all highlighting the cops and robbers theme of Battlefield Hardline.

Hotwire mode, where criminals must try and steal a set of marked cars and the cops try to repossess them, will be available on the Downtown and Dust Bowl maps.

Heist mode requires the criminals to attempt to pull off a big job, breaking into a bank vault and stealing the loot, while the criminals attempt to stop them. This mode will only be playable on the new Bank Job map during the open beta.

Finally, you’ll be able to sample the classic Conquest mode on the new Dust Bowl map – complete with it’s own Levolution feature that we won’t ruin for you.

Download the Battlefield Hardline beta for Xbox One and Xbox 360

Anyone looking to play the Battlefield Hardline beta on Xbox One and Xbox 360 sadly won’t be able to pre-download and install the beta.

So, you’ll have to wait until EA Games confirms the beta has gone live on Xbox Live.

When it is, all you’ll need to do is search for “Battlefield Hardline Beta” in the Xbox Games Store on either console, download the game and start playing – as long as you’ve got an Xbox Live Gold account.

The Battlefield Hardline beta is a 10 – 11GB download for Xbox One, or just under 4GB on Xbox 360.

Download the Battlefield Hardline beta for PS4 and PS3

Just like with Xbox consoles, you can’t pre-install or pre-load the Battlefield Hardline beta on your PS4 or PS3.

Instead, you’re going to have to wait until the beta drops on February 3 and wait for it to download and install. You’re looking at a download size of between 10 – 11GB on PS4 and just under 4GB for PS3.

When the Hardline beta is live, just search for “Battlefield Hardline beta” on the PlayStation Network and hit download. If you’re at work, don’t forget you can start downloading the PS4 version remotely if your console is in Rest Mode – meaning it’ll be ready to start playing when you get home.

Yes!! "Heist mode requires the criminals to
attempt to pull off a big job, breaking into a bank vault and stealing
the loot, while the criminals attempt to stop them". That's what it says right there!! :) Nice twist - but what do the cops do; sit the game out???
