Update: Rockstar has confirmed that the GTA 5 release date will now be held on September 17, missing its previously planned 'spring 2013' arrival.

Adding to the raft of recent GTA 5 rumours, German retailer Saturn has reportedly leaked the upcoming GTA 5 release date with a March 15 arrival tipped.

Far from the first time a claimed GTA 5 release date has done the rounds, the Saturn leak is the latest in a long line of retailer based speculation that has built around developer Rockstar’s comments that the latest instalment to the iconic Grand Theft Auto franchise will touch down in ‘spring 2013’.

Whilst Saturn is the latest in a long line of retailers to offer speculative possibilities for the eagerly awaited GTA 5 release date, the German seller has also offered a tantalising insight into the game’s possible pre-order bonuses with those consumers splashing the cash early seemingly set to be rewarded with a free GTA V poster boxed with the game.

Suggesting that the GTA 5 release date is now just a little over two months away, Saturn’s March 15 GTA 5 release date lines up three days after the possible March 12 arrival handed to the game by UK retailer Tesco. Although neither date has been confirmed by developer Rockstar, the supermarket giant’s claim seems the more likely option with the high-profile GTA 5 release seemingly sure to command a leading Tuesday launch.

Although the GTA 5 release date now just months away, there is still much uncertainty around certain aspects of the game with the title’s available formats still reportedly up in the air.

Whilst Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 5 will be limited to Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers at launch, the publisher has speculated on future format roll outs, hinting at a potential Nintendo Wii U and GTA 5 PC release by stating that “everything else is up for consideration.”

Discussing the potential platform expansion of GTA 5, Rockstar Vice President Dan Houser recently stated: “We are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market.

“If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.”
