Gran Turismo 6 launch event invite

Gran Turismo 6 has been officially confirmed by a prematurely leaked press release ahead of a launch event later today.

Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi will officially unveil Gran Turismo 6 at a dedicated launch later today at Silverstone, but it has now been confirmed by a press release leaked online.

The game will launch on PS3 later this year, with the garage boosted to incorporate 1,200 vehicles including all those featured in Grand Turismo 5. The game will offer more customisation options than previous games in the series and include more DLC than ever before.

Gran Turismo 6 will feature seven new tracks, but apart from Silverstone, the locations are still unknown. Although, Polyphony staff were spotted touring around the Australian Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst.

Earlier this week, a Gran Turismo 6 PS4 release was teased by online retailers, suggesting that the PLaystation exclusive racing title will be among the games to bridge th gap between current and next-generation consoles, along with Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, GTA 5 and Battlefield 4.

Today’s Gran Turismo 6 event celebrates the 15th anniversary of the hugely popular and ultra-realistic racing sim.

“Join us to celebrate 15 years of Gran Turismo, and discover exciting announcements about its future,” read the press event invite.

Hopefully, Gran Turismo 6 will not incur the same release date delays as Gran Turismo 5.

Speaking back in November 2010, Yamauchi said work had already started on Gran Turismo 6, but added: “It’s not something we can talk that lightly on.”

“It took 2,000 days to get all the ideas that went into GTA 5. It’s just too early to be talking about GT6.”

A Gran Turismo 6 release date has yet to be listed, but as soon as we get any more details, we’ll let you know.
