A Fitbit Force refresh should arrive “later this year”, fixing issues with skin irritation and adding additional features.

The Fitbit Force didn’t have the most successful launch as the fitness tracker had to be recalled earlier this year due to customers experiencing skin irritation.

However, it looks like the company is preparing a slightly modified version of the Fitbit Force for “later this year”.

The information comes courtesy of notorious tech tipster @evleaks, who released a photo of the new Fitbit Force and details of its new features.

Aside from  becoming “more waterproof” and introducing a “new hypoallergenic band”, the new Fitbit Force will add Caller ID alerts presented using the fitness tracker’s little LED screen.

This was a feature originally tipped to arrive in a software update just before the fitness band was recalled.

The new version will also be able to offer real-time run stats including time, pace and distance “when your phone is nearby”.

According to the leaked information, the Fitbit Force will cost $125.95 (£75). This is the same as the original Fitbit Force, which was expected to come to the UK with a £99.99 price tag.

Aside from a few new features, the Force refresh seems to offer the same functionality as its predecessor.

These features include sleep monitoring, vibrating wake-up alarms and wireless data synching.

Fitness data is tracked and stored in the related mobile app and online dashboard, which offers charts and graphs to map your progress.

The LED display presents your fitness stats and the time quickly and easily as well.

There’s no indication as to when the updated Fitbit Force will arrive, but hopefully it shouldn’t be too much longer.
