Apple online store closes its virtual doors ahead of iPhone 5S launch event

In what has become something of a tradition, Apple has closed the virtual doors to its online store just hours ahead of this evening’s iPhone 5S launch event.

Preparing for the arrival of new products, Apple has ceased trading via its online store as the Cupertino based company builds tension ahead of tonight’s expected iPhone 5S release date announcement.

“We’ll be back,” the now familiar Apple closed store sign states. The company added: “We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.”

With the iPhone 5S widely expected to be officially unveiled alongside the heavily rumoured budget iPhone 5C, it has been suggested that the new Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One rival could incorporate its own fingerprint scanner alongside a new, quad-core processor and revised 12-megapixel camera.

In what is shaping up to be something of a bumper night for the iPad mini maker, recent iPhone launch event rumours have suggested that the Apple Store could have a raft of new products available for purchase once it is reopened later this evening.

Tipped to appear alongside the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, revised iPod models are reportedly on the cards while a Mac Pro introduction could also be made.

Although an iPad mini 2, iPad 5 and Apple iWatch have all been rumoured for release, it is not expected that any will be formally introduced this evening but instead held off for a separate launch event later in the year.
