Here are some general test shots to help evaluate the camera's overall image quality, including the zoom range of the lens. Some pictures may be clicked to download the full size original image.


The wide-angle end is equivalent to approximately 38mm. Note the vignetting in this shot.


The telephoto end is equivalent to about 114mm.


Colour reproduction is OK in good light, but it is still over-compressed and darker ar the edges.


Dynamic range is very limited, with burned-out highlights and dark shadows.


The vignetting (dark corners) is more noticeable in this shot.

I know this is 'ultra-cheap', but it's still 65 quid, and for that it seems like an absolute rip-off. I would argue you dont get what you pay for at all. I quick trip to amazon reveals you can pick up a samsung S1070 10mp cam for 68 quid, and that was literally the first sub-100 camera on the very front page of the digital cameras section. I dont know the samsung is any better, but it demonstrates there is a lot more to choose from at this price point, and plenty of well-known brands too. This G-Shot thing seems awesomely bad.

Thanks for the review. Consumers should realize that a brand name usually means something and no-name brands are not "just as good."
