Xbox One pre-orders smash Blockbuster records

Blockbuster has announced that it has received a huge number of Xbox One pre-orders, breaking all previous pre-order launch records.
Xbox One pre-orders through the Blockbuster website in the past week have beaten all previous records in the retailer’s 24-years of operation.
Despite online support for the console being fairly low at present, it hasn’t stopped unprecedented consumer interest in the Xbox One, with the retailer reporting the highest number of pre-orders it has ever seen.
Gamers can pre-order the Xbox One via the Blockbuster website, paying a £20 deposit for the console and simultaneously signing up to receive updates about the Xbox One release date and price. That deposit cost will also be deducted from the total console price come launch day.
“At Blockbuster, we have a fantastic array of adrenaline-fuelled console games for sale or rental. Our expert staff know gaming and they know consoles and these pre-orders are testament to our customers’ trust in us as a leading gaming retailer.”
Although no firm Xbox One price has yet to be revealed, the German Amazon website listed the Xbox One with a 599 Euro (£512) price tag. Last week another retailer, Zavvi, listed the Xbox release date as November 30 with an RRP of £399.
Of course, Microsoft has yet to confirm any official pricing details for its next-generation console, which will come bundled with the new Xbox One Kinect and updated controller.
“With Sony releasing the PS4 in the near future, the next few months are going to be an exciting time for our staff and customers at Blockbuster and we can’t wait to hear more details from both Sony and Microsoft at the E3 Expo next month.”
The PS4 was unveiled at a dedicated Sony event in February and, like the Xbox One, currently lacks a release date aside from the loose “holidays 2013” time frame given by the Japanese electronics manufacturer.
