Xbox One April update brings new ‘What’s On’ homescreen channel
Microsoft has revealed the content of its monthly Xbox One software update, headlined by a new channel promoting popular and trending content on the console’s homescreen.
The April system update, which is rolling out from today, includes a tab that’ll enable users to easily access the most popular videos, games, movies, TV shows, gaming clips and more.
According to Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, Xbox One owners will also see Trending TV shows, if they have the OneGuide tool configured with their home television box. The What’s On Channel is available now for those in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.
On his blog, Major Nelson, real name Larry Hyrb, wrote: “The What’s On area is now available for Xbox One users in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.
The April Update for Xbox One also offers improved party chat functionality. The app will now help with microphone set up and troubleshoot privacy or network issues preventing users communicating with friends. So, for example, it’ll quickly let you know if the Kinect sensor happens to be switched off.
Elsewhere, there’s the addition of a brief description to accompany the name of an achievement within the notification, meaning gamers no longer have to open the dedicated achievements app for the the lowdown.
