Wooting One is an analogue keyboard for precise movement in games

This one’s for the gamers.

The Wooting One is an analogue mechanical keyboard that reads exactly how much you press a key. In other words, instead of just registering a press, it registers degrees of how much you’ve pressed, meaning you can sneak around corners gradually, instead of nipping out and back, giving away your position.

It should also come in useful for racing games, letting you press the forward button as if you were stepping on the accelerator. You can steer gradually, instead of tapping your way around the course, and brake gradually, which would probably be a first for any racing game.

You don’t need any special software, just plug in the keyboard and start gaming. You can also switch back to digital mode if you like, letting you type as on a regular keyboard. You can remove the keys and swap their placement around, so you can tailor it to your personal gaming style.

However, it won’t work with every game. That’s because some developers have opted to turn off the keyboard and mouse when Xinput (the Xbox controller) is detected.

Still, it looks like a great tool to add to your arsenal. It’s passed its funding goal and still has 21 days to go. Pledge €139 (£108) and it can be yours when it ships in November.
