Windows Phone 7.8 update coming end of January
The Windows Phone 7.8 update will be available for Windows Phone 7.5 users by the end of January, network provider O2 has revealed.
O2 UK tweeted that the Windows Phone 7.8 update will be released by the end of January via Zune, ahead of an official comment from Microsoft or any of the Windows Phone handset manufacturers.
The network provider stocks several Windows Phone 7 devices, such as the Nokia Lumia 900 and HTC Titan.
Windows 7.5 handsets will not be receiving the new Windows 8, so Microsoft is providing the Windows Phone 7.8 update in an attempt to bridge the gap for Windows 7.5 users.
Windows Phone 7.8 Features
The Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade will add a Windows 8-esque start screen to the older phones, complete with resizeable Live Tiles.
Users can set the Bing image of the day as their lock screen wallpaper, with the update also providing 20 new accent theme colours for added personalisation.
Children can play on your Windows Phone without having access to your personal files due to the new Kid’s Corner, and there are new lock screen features including added security.
Nokia Lumia users will also benefit from a Bluetooth share function, new camera lenses to remove unwanted objects in photos, and a ringtone maker app.
