Twitter appears to be trialling a bold new advertising service on its mobile app in an effort to push third-party software installations.
Several users have reported that their Twitter feeds are now playing host to a large advertising carousel titled ‘Suggested Apps’.
This carousel lets your swipe left and right between various app advertisements, with a fairly conspicuous ‘Install’ button stamped front and centre on each ad, as reported by TheNextWeb.
The new feature takes up most of the page, marking it as seriously prime marketing space for potential advertisers.
Twitter pushing software through in-app advertising isn’t anything new, but it’s now clearly taking a much less subtle approach.
Traditionally, Twitter’s advertisements have been blended in as tweets within a feed so they don’t look out of place.
