This USB-C brick solves the new MacBook’s biggest problem

Apple’s new MacBook is a great forerunner for the USB-C standard, but the notebook’s single port left many of us feeling underwhelmed.
Fortunately, Other World Computing (OWC) has created a new dock that will help solve your connectivity woes.
Dubbed the ‘USB-C Dock’, OWC’s new product is a port-toting brick that hooks up to the USB-C port on your MacBook.
This converts the lonely USB-C slot into 11 different ports, all perfect for cramming full of peripheral connections.
For starters, you get an extra USB-C port, which is necessary because the original MacBook port will be occupied by the dock.
There’s also four USB 3.0 ports, two of which are ‘high-power’, which means you can charge corollary devices quickly.
Then there’s a HDMI port with support for 4K displays, an SD card reader, a gigabit Ethernet port, and audio in and out ports.

It’s also available in silver, space grey, and gold colour options, which means the giant hunk of connectivity won’t look entirely daft when attached to your MacBook.
Unfortunately, it will add serious weight and size to your MacBook, so you won’t want to cart this around often. Best leave it on the desk, plugged into your various peripheral gadgets.
You can pre-order OWC’s USB-C Dock now at a cost of $129 – that’s about £84 sterling.
