The iPhone 6S release date is now pencilled in for August, at least according to new reports out of China.
Several articles from news site UDN (via GForGames) claim the company is pushing forward the launch schedule for its next flagship smartphone.
While Apple usually launches iPhone devices in September, the reports claim we’ll instead see the device one month early.
It’s all reportedly down to the fact that component yield rates have been better than expected.
Typically, news reports on iPhone production in recent years have centred around difficulty achieving good yield rates.
If Apple has managed to produce a good initial stock of handsets earlier than expected, the release date could certainly be pushed forward.
The reports also suggest that Apple is currently increasing its component orders for the next handset quite significantly.
This suggests that Apple might be either planning for an earlier launch date, or is hoping to ship more iPhones than usual.

Of course, there needs to be enough incentive for Apple to change its release cycle, and we’re not sure if there is.
For a start, September puts the device just close enough to Christmas to enjoy the increased sales benefits that come with Q4 product launches.
There’s also the fact that many customers run 12- and 24-month contracts, so if a contract was due to end in September, users would have to wait a month to upgrade to the new device.
