Tesla opens six new Supercharger sites across UK

Tesla is expanding is UK operations, today opening six new Supercharging stations across humble Blighty.

The chargers replenish the Model S battery up to half charge in just 20 minutes, with Tesla aiming to set up stations strategically along well-travelled routes.

Three of the new sites are in London, namely Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, and the Westfield White City shopping centre.

There are already two existing stations in the capital at Portman Square and the Royal Victoria Docks.

We are working on additional London locations with new sites to be announced shortly,” explained Georg Ell, Tesla’s country director for the UK and Ireland.

“Our plan for routes around the UK is also under way and we now have four locations outside of the capital.”

The remaining three fledgling charging stations are housed in Reading, Bristol, and Edinburgh.

Today also saw the opening of a new store and service centre on British soil.

The Tesla Birmingham branch is set to be a West Midlands hub for Elon Musk-officiated vehicles, and features a Model S design studio, a four-bay service area, and a dedicated delivery bay.

There are also plans to open other stores in Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle, and Edinburgh.

Tesla opened its first European showroom in the UK back in 2009. Since then, the eco-friendly car firm has opened up 83 Supercharger stations across the continent.
