Telltale Games to create hybrid TV series/videogame

Telltale Games is to create a hybrid TV series/videogame as its first original series.
The developer behind game series including The Walking Dead and Games of Thrones has started work on its own original series, and it looks to be quite the unique project.
Telltale’s first original series will be something more than just a video game. In fact it’ll be some kind of hybrid TV series/videogame project.
Although fine details about the series are currently being kept secret, but Telltale is calling it a “super show” that is going to take the form of a half TV show, half game.
A single episode will include a TV-style portion that is scripted, but also an interactive section that will be more akin to the game series Telltale Games is famed for.
“It’s not an interactive series with a show, or a TV show with a game, but a story integrated in a way that only Telltale can do,” said Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“For us it’s a very natural evolution of the interactive storytelling expertise we’ve pioneered.”

As part of the interview, the developer revealed that Lionsgate film studios has made “a significant investment” in Telltale Games. Plus, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer is joining Telltale’s board of directors.
“Their leadership in narrative-drive episodic games, together with our investment and the potential opportunities created by our premium content expertise, will continue to strengthen their ability to offer exciting new avenues of storytelling to their next generation audiences across a broad range of platforms,” explained Feltheimer in a statement.
Could this be a hint at potential new gaming series for Telltale Games, based on Lionsgate properties such as The Hunger Games or even Orange is the New Black – although Netflix might have a bit to say on that one.
