The heavily delayed South Park: The Stick of Truth game has been censored ahead of its European release.
According to documentation acquired by BT.com, the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) version of the long awaited South Park game has been censored like the Australian edition.
The documents suggest a number of cut scenes have been removed, with on-screen text detailing the censored action appearing in its place.
The game has already gained an 18 rating in the UK from PEGI, but Ubisoft has made the decision to cut the scenes probably due to their obscene content.
Apparently, the censored scenes include two mini-games concerning abortions and five scenes where characters are “actively” being anally probed.
The scenes are said to “play out as normal before and after the active probing sequences.”
When directly questioned about the decision by Eurogamer, Ubisoft said “this was a market decision”.
The game has also been censored in Australia for similar reasons involving alien probes.
To be honest, we don’t feel we really need content like this in our videogames, especially making light of the conversial abortion topics.
