SmartWallet doubles as a mobile charger
We’ve seen plenty of portable mobile chargers seeking crowdfunding recently, but this one is a little different: it’s also a wallet.
The SmartWallet looks like a standard card carrier. But inside its zip-up pockets is a cable to charge your mobile. Choose from either a microUSB cable for Android, or Lightning cable for iPhone, and power your mobile using the built-in 1,000mAh battery.
The wallet itself charges up like any portable charger – just plug it into a wall socket. It has some other nifty features too.
Whenever it goes out of range, your phone will give you an alert, and save its last known location using GPS, so you can easily retrieve it. You can also use the app to make the wallet ring, which should make it easy to find.
It’s a shame it doesn’t have a bigger battery, but then that would mean more bulk. We’ve seen these kinds of out of range features before, like on these sunglasses, for example, but that doesn’t make it any less useful. It’s the first phone charger with them, and the first we know of that also works as a wallet, so hats off to the developers.
It’s seeking $10,000 on Indiegogo. You can pick one up for $75 (£48) if you get in early, saving $40 off the retail price. If successful, it should ship in March next year.
