The Samsung Galaxy S7 is out today, and UK models are already receiving their first Android software update.
We found the modified Android 6.0 Marshmallow software to be a pretty slick experience on Samsung’s new hardware, but day-one customers should have an even better time of it once they’ve downloaded Android 6.0.1.
Team Android reports that the new Android build is making its way to Galaxy S7 phones, which should address many of the issues that have cropped up in initial public testing.
Firmware update XXU1APAW is compatible with the Galaxy S7 model labelled SM-G930F, so check to see if there’s an OTA update waiting for you when your handset arrives.
There don’t appear to be any new features present in the update, so it really does seem to be a bug-squashing exercise. Still, given Samsung’s less-than-stellar reputation for pushing out timely updates, you won’t catch us complaining.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 launches alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, which we called “the Android phone to beat in 2016” in our review.
While the Galaxy S7 Edge has the flashier curved design and the larger (5.5-inch) display, those who prefer their smartphones to be usable in one hand might prefer to check out the Samsung Galaxy S7 with its 5.1-inch screen. Aside from these factors and a smaller battery, the two are identical.
