Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 spotted at Korean event

An official shot of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has been spotted during a Samsung event in South Korea, after a probable snap of the upcoming 8-inch tab inadvertently appeared on-screen.

During an announcement of the new red option for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE model to tie in with Valentine’s Day, a shot of an entirely different tablet appeared in the background.

The white, curved design of the featured tablet matches Samsung Galaxy 8.0 leaks that have appeared online in the last month, complete with prominent home button. It’s certainly not the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet that the South Korean event was supposedly promoting.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet looks set to take its design heritage from the Samsung Galaxy S3, sliding neatly into line alongside the other S-Pen stylus wielding tabs, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 8-inch slate and the 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Leaked specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 suggest the 8-inch tablet could feature an HD display with 1,280 x 800p resolution compatible with the Samsung S-Pen stylus. Reportedly hosting a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and a microSD expandable 16GB of internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 should more be akin to a super-sized smart phone than a tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 could also feature an HSPA connectivity option, perhaps hinting to a possible SIM card integration for mobile data, as seen in Apple tablets including the iPad Mini.

Although there is no firm Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 release date as yet, the device has been confirmed by Head of Mobile at Samsung JK Shin, who said the “the 8-inch Galaxy Note will be released from MWC.”

With the Barcelona-based mobile event upon us at the end of this month, Samsung Galaxy Note fans won’t be in for much of a wait to see the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 unveiled.
