Panasonic HX-A500 4K wearable camcorder launched

Panasonic has launched the Panasonic HX-A500, which it claims to be the first wearable 4K 24fps camcorder.

The lightweight, compact 4K video camcorder can be attached to your body or head, and thankfully is waterproof and dustproof too for your adventures.

“We’ve seen the action camcorder market grow year on year as people look to share their activities and capture the action in the best picture quality possible,” said Matt Evans, Camcorder Product Manager of Panasonic UK. “4K is the next step in video capture and when combined with the ability to use a point of view camcorder we begin to push the boundaries of videography.”

Panasonic HX-A500 Features
The Panasonic HX-A500’s key feature is its ability to shoot 4K resolution videos at 25fps thanks to the Crystal Engine Pro Plus image engine, which is better than that offered by rival action cams like the GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition.

You can also shoot 1920 x 1080 at 50fps, 1280 x 720 at 100fps and can even go up to 200fps if you drop down to 848 x 480p standard definition.

The actual camcorder comprises of two body parts connected via cable. The main unit weighs 119g, but the camera section is only 31g.

There’s a 1.5-inch colour LCD monitor on the main body of the HX-A500, allowing you to check what the camera is recording while you’re wearing it.

Its compact body is also dustproof and waterproof, enabling you to shoot video for up to 30 minutes down to a depth of 3 metres.

The HX-A500 is compatible with a range of accessories including a head mount, durable armband and a clip mount.

You can also invest in a wind jammer attachment to reduce the wind noise you experience when recording fast-pasted activities.

Panasonic HX-A500 Release Date and Price

The Panasonic HX-A500 will be available from May, priced at £379.99.
