The gorgeous red OnePlus 6 is now available in the UK

You can now pick up the excellent OnePlus 6 in an eye-catching new colour scheme: red.

The new-look handset has just gone on sale in the UK, where it’s available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, for £519. You can order it here.

It has also just gone on sale in other markets around the world, though it will only hit India on July 16.

The other two OnePlus 6 configurations (6GB RAM, 64GB storage, £469; 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, £569) sadly aren’t available in red.

“In order to achieve an “amber-like” depth and clarity, we used a new film coating process that’s never been attempted before in the smartphone industry. The result is a red that’s more elegant, one that leaves a strong impression of quality and value,” said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, announcing the new colour scheme.

“Another challenge we faced was adequately increasing the brightness of the red coating. In order to maintain a bright coating, the design team included an evaporated layer of brightening film that cost around $5 to make crystal clear. The result is a sizeable glossy, transparent layer over the red coating.”

The OnePlus 6 is shaping up to be one of the best smartphones on the market, with our Mobile and Tablets Editor Max Parker writing in his review:

“At £469, it’s an absolute steal. It’s the best-value phone you can buy right now, without a doubt.”

In June, OnePlus announced that it will continue to release Android software update smartphones up until their second birthday, and critical security updates until their third – matching Android titan Google’s policy with Pixel handsets.
