OnePlus warns of UK price hike for OnePlus 3 thanks to Brexit

OnePlus has issued a statement advising its UK fans to buy the OnePlus 3 sooner rather than later, as the impact of Brexit on the British economy is likely to mean it has to increase prices in the near future.

Posting on the OnePlus forum, administrator and staff member David S wrote:

The worrying downward trend of the GBP may make it difficult to maintain our current pricing structure in the UK. Our margins have always been thin, and our expenses are mainly in USD. This being the case, sudden drops such as the one that the Pound has recently experienced could have a direct impact on our prices.

“We’re telling you this now because we don’t want you to be blindsided. If you’re thinking of buying, we recommend doing so sooner rather than later.”

OnePlus added that it wasn’t worried about its overall UK business, and noted that potential buyers would be given “several days” of notice before any potential price hike.

Normally, we’d treat any company advising you to buy its flagship product immediately with an unhealthy amount of salt, but in this instance, we’re not nearly as sceptical that it’s a cynical marketing plot – or at least not entirely a cynical marketing ploy.

The best way to your OnePlus 3 at the current price of £309 is via the OnePlus website though you can expert some shipping delays, as we reported yesterday.
