Nintendo has announced its very first mobile game, called Miitomo, which will launch in March 2016.
When the news came that Nintendo’s first mobile game would be announced today, based on one of its IPs, all tongues started wagging.
The question was, which of Nintendo’s super-strong and very famous IPs would the game be based on.
Well, the cat’s out of the bag now, and the game is called Miitomo. Yes, it’s a mobile game about Miis. Not Mario, not Zelda, not even a nice little Yoshi on your mobile.
This brand-new mobile will be free to download with in-app purchases. However, Nintendo stated that further mobile games – with four more expected to launch by March 2017 – will be pay-to-download offerings.
Miitomo will see users design their own avatar, or Mii as you’ll know they’re called in Nintendo world, which will then communicate with other users.
According to Nintendo, your Miis will go and communicate with other Miis without your knowledge.
“This will help people who are hesitant to talk about themselves to communicate with others, and reveal a side of your friends you never knew”, said Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

If you were expecting a Nintendo mobile game this side of Christmas then you’ll be disappointed. Miitomo is due to arrive in March 2016, with Nintendo using the extra time to “fully promote and explain Miitomo”.
Although Nintendo didn’t mention anything about the Nintendo NX at the mobile games presentation, it did share a few details on its upcoming cross-platform membership service.
It seems that it will be called Nintendo Account and will be used to connect Nintendo platform users with mobile and PC. It will offer a cloud-based service for transferring data between mobile games and console titles.
