Netflix comes to YouView

YouView has finally added Netflix to its range of set-top-boxes, which should come as good news to BT TV customers.

As predicted last week, YouView users can now access Netflix content through their set-top boxes.

The move brings such streamable content as the entire run of Breaking Bad, Homeland, Arrested Development, as well as unique content like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, to YouView boxes for the first time.

You also get a modest selection of movies, some of which – like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Skyfall and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – are fairly recent.

Netflix has been integrated with the YouView service, so you can use the latter’s search function to browse for streamable content.

That’s provided you have an active Netflix subscription, of course. Prices start from £5.99 per month for unlimited standard definition streaming, or you can pay £6.99 a month to shift thinks up to 1080p Full HD. If you sign up for Netflix alongside your BT broadband and TV, you’ll be able to pay for Netflix as part of your BT bill.

“Netflix is a brilliant addition to our already impressive line-up of TV
programming,” said YouView CEO Richard Halton. “We are really excited
about Netflix and giving YouView audiences even more choice.”

Netflix is available to use today on BT YouView set-top boxes and Humax set-top boxes bought from a retailer, while TalkTalk YouView set-top boxes and those made by Huawei will get the update early in the new year.
