Apple is hoping to avoid a repeat of 2014’s Bendgate saga by strengthening the construction of the iPhone 6S range.
According to reports on Monday, Apple has addressed the concerns – which left many iPhone 6 Plus users with warped, bent handsets – for this year’s models.
The Unbox Therapy YouTube channel has apparently obtained an official rear casing for the iPhone 6S and put the component through its paces.
Also is also likely to be using a stronger, yet lighter form of aluminium which lessens the weight of the casing by 2 grams (from 25g to 27). Apple is rumoured to be using the 7000 series aluminium and this seems to offer a strong hint.
Monday’s reports seem to corroborate earlier leaks claiming Apple had made modest adjustments to improve the durability of its flagship devices. A report in July claimed the iPhone 6S would be ‘stronger’ than its predecessor.
Apple is likely to reveal the iPhone 6S at a special media event rumoured to be taking place on September 9.
