Minecraft: Wii U Edition to support voice chat and USB keyboards
The better-late-than-never confirmation Minecraft would finally be coming to Wii U later this month was tempered by news there’d be no support for inventory management on the console’s unique GamePad.
However for Wii U owners who need cheering up after that bittersweet announcement, there was better news on Thursday.
The game, which will be released on December 17, will offer support for voice chat, USB keyboards and the Wii U Pro Controller.
The news was revealed on the Nintendo Japan site (via Nintendo Life).

Despite the inability to manage inventory on the GamePad’s 6-inch display, gamers will be able to make use of off-TV play, meaning they can play when the living room display is occupied.
When the game goes on sale it’ll be bundled with six of the most popular add-on packs according to developer Mojang. There was also mention of a “festive mash-up” too.
All we need now is a launch for 3DS to make Minecraft ubiquitous across practically every gaming platform known to humanity.
