LMcable charges both Lightning and micro-USB devices

This cable works with both Apple’s Lighting port and micro-USB ports.

That means it can charge both iPhones and Android devices, so you don’t have to take more than one cable with you.

Like all the best ideas, LMcable is astoundingly simple. Plug it in one way, and it’ll juice up an iPhone. Turn it around, and it’ll plug into an Android phone, or anything with a micro-USB port.

That means you can use it to charge iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, fitness bands, e-book readers, Bluetooth headsets and more. Which makes it invaluable when you go on holiday and need to charge up all your gadgets.

However, it’s not perfect. It can only charge one device at a time, so if you have a personal phone and a work phone, they’ll have to take it in turns. It also doesn’t support USB Type-C, which is the emerging format on Android phones. Some new handsets – like the Samsung Galaxy S7 – still have micro-USB, but give it a year or two, and USB C will be the norm.

It has a brass buckle enclosure and is wrapped in leather, so looks suitably plush. This also means it won’t get tangled.

It’s passed its funding goal and still has 37 days to go. Pledge $20AUD (£10) and it can be yours when it ships in April.
