bleep is a smart charging cable that backs up your smartphone data

Apple may be readying a Lightning cable with a reversible USB connector for the iPhone 6, but this charging cable is much more exciting.
It’s called bleep, and it automatically backs up all the data from your phone when you charge it. The data is stored on the cable itself, which comes in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB varieties .
As soon as you plug in your phone and start charging, bleep syncs daily data from your contacts, WhatsApp messaging, history, photos, videos and more. If you lose or break your phone, just plug bleep into another handset, and you can restore all your data with one button press, thanks to the simple interface. Easy.
It’s handier than the cloud, as you don’t need Wi-Fi, which makes it ideal for travellers. Though if you want belt and braces, you can upload to the cloud using bleep as well.
Set up is a doddle, too. Download the bleep app, log in to your account, choose your back-up settings, then connect it to your smartphone, and it’ll start backing up automatically. It works with iOS and Android, and comes in an easy-to-find shade of green.
It’s password protected, so if you lose it, no one else will be able to get their mitts on your data.
bleep has already surpassed its funding goal on Indiegogo. If you want to chip in, $40 saves you 20 per cent off the retail price. But if you’re feeling really generous, $380 saves you $120.
