LG finally talks about 360 VR headset price and availability

Like a growing number of its rivals, LG now has its very own virtual reality headset – but how much will it cost?
LG has given up a couple of clues about the LG 360 VR price, despite initial silence on the matter.
Speaking exclusively to TrustedReviews, Shaun Musgrave, LG’s Product Marketing Manager for the UK and Ireland, detailed the company’s pricing strategy for the fledgling VR headset.
According to Musgrave, the price “will be very competitive” and “sits within the same space as the [Samsung] Gear VR”.
For reference, Samsung’s Gear VR headset currently retails for £80 in the UK, and $100 over in the US. As such, we’d now expect the LG 360 VR to have a similar – if not lower – price.
Musgrave added that the LG 360 VR is “not overly expensive”, and said it wouldn’t sit in the same category as premium headsets like the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.

The LG 360 VR is the first virtual reality headset offered by LG, and marks the company’s entry into a category already occupied by rivals like Samsung, HTC, and Sony.
The main difference between the LG 360 VR and Samsung’s Gear VR is that the former doesn’t dock a smartphone that acts as a display.
Instead, the LG 360 VR has twin dedicated displays built in, but tethers to your LG G5 for content and power supply courtesy of a USB-C connection.
What’s also notable about the LG 360 VR is its form factor; its much more condensed than rivals, and sits lightly at just 100g.

LG hasn’t confirmed an exact release date just yet, although Musgrave told us: “it will be available roughly around the time of the [LG G5]”.
That puts the LG 360 VR’s most likely launch window as April this year, but May could be equally likely.
