It’s official: Podcasts are now part of Google Play Music

Rejoice Android users, for you now have native access to many of the world’s most popular podcasts.
Six months after revealing plans, Google has officially made podcasts part of Google Play Music, at least for people in the US.
Android device owners who’ve relied on the likes of Pocket Cast for their fix for years, can now get episodes directly from Google.
Google is hoping its approach will help snag users from those apps.
The company will offer categories like “Learn Something New” or “Getting Lost in a Story.” Those seeking a giggle will be directed to the “Laughing Out Loud” category.

Google has been recruiting top podcasters since October, and has managed to grab the likes of Joe Rogan, Bill Simmons and Neil Tyson DeGrasse.
Google Play Music Podcasts is available for the Android app and on the web from today. Those accessing the app through iOS devices (come on, own up!) will have to wait a while.
