Is this Apple patent for a new Mac Pro or an Echo rival? Neither, it’s a plant pot
Over the years, Apple’s innovations have fundamentally changed the way we think about computers, music players and phones. The company is currently attempting to do the same for watches, headphones and, if you believe the rumour mill, perhaps even cars.
The company’s latest patents filing suggests Cupertino’s next target is the humble plant pot.
Yes, you read that correctly, the company has filed a patent for plant pot and it looks a little bit like the cylindrical Mac Pro.
However, the Percy Throwers of the world probably have no reason for alarm. Apple isn’t about to unleash connected plant pots at the next WWDC (at least we think not).
The patent looks as it may simply be for the pots that house the trees for The Grove feature at revamped Apple stores.

The company has even patented the arrangements of said plant pots, judging by the images uncovered by Patently Apple.
While the idea might seem outlandish, there are actually a host of smart plant pots on the scene.
The Parrot Pot analyses your plants needs, will tell you if they need more sunlight, fertilizer or a change in temperature. It’ll even water them when you go on holiday, so you don’t have to worry about your neighbors rifling through your gear.
