HTC will replace your busted One M9 free of charge
HTC has announced a new program that will see the company replace a damaged HTC One M9 with a brand new device.
Dubbed ‘Uh Oh’, the scheme will launch alongside the HTC One M9 with a view to entice prospective buyers with guaranteed protection.
The Taiwanese company has already had a device replacement scheme in operation for a while now, although that only covered cracked screens.
The new scheme covers cracked screens, water damage, and even carrier switching – that means no more headaches over network-locked handsets.
You’ll only be able to replace a handset one time, and it has to be within the first 12 months of purchase.
HTC ships the new phone overnight, and you’ll then have 20 days to return the original defective handset.
Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC America, said: “With the HTC One M9, we didn’t stop with creating an award-winning smartphone and amazing user experiences.” “We created an innovative new program that ensures the best phone on the market stays that way.”

A Google Insights Survey conducted in March 2015 revealed that 69 per cent of respondents had damaged their smartphone within the past 12 months.
What’s more, 47 per cent of those that needed to repair their phones had to spend upwards of $100.
A further 25 per cent declined to get the device repaired, and continued to use the damaged handset.
“While other smartphone companies look at uh-oh moments as a way to profit off of you,
HTC also revealed that if you don’t end up using the Uh Oh protection plan, it will slash $100 off the mark-up of your next HTC One purchase.
The protection is provided automatically with HTC’s One M9, which is set to go on sale from April 10 in the US.
We asked HTC whether this service was available in the UK. They replied and told us it was a US-only announcement currently, but we will be updated if this changes.
